As a Christian organization, SROM believes that the natural
world was created and is valued by the Creator intrinsically. The Bible
describes the Lord delighting in His created world even if it has no utility to
man: “Who […] brings rain on a land where no man is, […] to satisfy the land,
and to make the ground sprout with grass?” (Job 38:25-27)
Practicing Leave No Trace outdoor ethics is simply an outflow of the love
of our Father. Really seeing and then stewarding creation compels us to look
outside of ourselves and see that we are a part of a greater whole.
Understanding that the planet and its people are interconnected is extremely
valuable in order to become a healthy and fruitful member of society.
Through practicing Leave No Trace, we express our thanks to
God for creating the world, our respect and admiration for the planet, and our
respect and love for the people that will come after us to these natural and
wild places.
“You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the
heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on
it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and
the host of heaven worships you.” (Nehemiah 9:6)
